Each year the Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Committee on Scouting holds several events to promote Catholic Scouting. These events include a Religious Emblems Counselor Training, Rosary Patch Program, Bible Patch Program, and Award Ceremony with Bishop Duca. We are able to accomplish these events, because of the many dedicated individuals (leaders, parents, and counselors) who donate their time and energy to providing a quality program.
The Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Committee on Scouting (CCOS) is affiliated with the Istrouma Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, American Heritage Girls, and the Girl Scouts Louisiana East. The Committee is dedicated to promoting the Catholic faith at each level of Scouting. We are affiliated with the National Catholic Committee on Scouting® (NCCS), an advisory to the Boy Scouts of America, National Catholic Committee on Girl Scouts and Camp Fire (NCCGSCF), and Region 5 of the NCCS and National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM).
Fr. Matthew Graham was appointed by Bishop Duca in the summer of 2019 to work with CCOS. He is currently pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Denham Springs. He is an Eagle Scout and long time member of the committee.
The mission of the Catholic Committee on Scouting is to promote the personal, social, and spiritual needs of Catholic youth participating in scouting programs (both in and outside of Catholic-sponsored units) and to act in an advisory capacity to the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge, or through his designee..
